The year-on-year traffic of the port of Santander between September 2024 and August 2025 reached 7,130,118 tons, placing the Cantabrian infrastructure above the target of seven million for this year.
Meanwhile, the total from January to August reached 4,615,247 tons, the best in the history of the Cantabrian infrastructure.
Currently, liquid bulk represents 3.3% of the total goods handled by the port, while solid bulk accounts for 43.9%, and general cargo, which has the highest added value, makes up 52.8%.
Container traffic increased by 5.9% compared to the accumulated total for these eight months of 2024, reaching 106,526 TEUs, while automobiles increased by 3.4%, totaling 211,386 units.
Meanwhile, cruises have risen from thirteen calls in 2024 to seventeen since January of this year, with a total of 21 calls expected by the end of the year.
